Trade Winds

Trade Winds Review

The steel guitar (Hawaiian: kika kila) is played by using a sliding steel bar instead of the fingers of the left hand, with strings raised well above the fretboard, to produce a glissando effect. Developed in Hawai'i in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was electrified in the 1930s and then began to gain in popularity in other kinds of music other than its native Hawaiian. This album features some of the most popular Hawaiian tunes on steel guitar, together with a few originals and standards.
